The trial of the former president of Yugoslavia, Slobodan Milosevic, resumes in The Hague after his poor health caused numerous delays. Milosevic, who is representing himself, still refuses to recognize the U.N. tribunal. NPR's Melissa Block talks to the BBC's Geraldine Coughlan.

Suicide Bomber Strikes Moscow

A bomb that exploded outside a busy underground metro station in Moscow is determined to be the work of a suicide bomber. The blast, which killed at least 10 people, came exactly one week after two Russian passenger planes were brought down, apparently by twin acts of terrorism. NPR's Lawrence Sheets.

Allawi Promises Aid to Undercut Insurgency

Iraq's interim government seeks to persuade both Sunni and Shiite leaders to stop supporting the anti-U.S. insurgency. Prime Minister Iyad Allawi promised funds for reconstruction projects in the restive Baghdad district of Sadr City. Chechens Elect Moscow-Backed Official President

As expected, the Kremlin's choice of Chechnya's new president was elected Sunday. Election officials said there was a high turnout, even though many observers say there were few voters seen at the polling booths.
