Colorado Voucher Plan Could Lead to Tuition Boosts

Colorado prepares to become the first U.S. state to provide taxpayer money directly to college students, instead of sending the money to colleges and universities. The vouchers could be used at state schools and private ones. Public university administrators like the plan, because it will enable them to boost tuition fees. NPR's Anthony Brooks reports.

No Changes on U.S. Terrorism Sponsors List

The State Department releases its annual report on international terrorism. The official list of "state sponsors" is unchanged, though Libya and Iraq might soon be taken off the list. The other state sponsors listed are Cuba, Sudan, Syria, Iran and North Korea. The report does not define Iraqi insurgents as terrorists, noting that most attacks there are against soldiers. NPR's Vicky O'Hara reports.

GDP Rises with Price Index

The nation's gross domestic product, or value of goods and services, grew at a 4.2 percent annual rate during the first three months of the year, an improvement over the end of 2003 but not as strong as many analysts were expecting. The Commerce Department's prime price index, omitting food and energy, rose 2.3 percent, compared with 1.5 percent in the fourth quarter. NPR's Jim Zarroli reports.

Intelligence Clearinghouse Wins Praise

The Terrorist Threat Integration Center, or TTIC, was established a year ago amid much criticism. The organization is designed to centralize intelligence from the CIA, FBI and Office of Homeland Security.
